Welcome to my website! I'm a PhD Candidate at the University of Victoria, researching ranked query processing under the co-supervision of Dr. Alex Thomo, Dr. Venkatesh Srinivasan, and Dr. Sue Whitesides. My research focuses on algorithm design and evaluation and typically leverages techniques from Computational Geometry.
My Master's thesis, which I completed in the Spring of 2009, was on the frequent itemset mining problem. I introduced a novel data layout for the classic A Priori algorithm to improve its sequentiality. As a consequence, the implementation mined the benchmark webdocs dataset at support thresholds yet unpublished.
Outside of my research, I'm a fairly competitive local runner with modest personal bests.
